The East African nation Receives Valuable Items Following a Century Holding in Germany

Around Twelve historical objects were formally restored to the Ethiopian nation following being kept by a German family for more than ten decades.

These items, originally gathered in the 1920s by Germany's representative to Ethiopia Franz Weiss and his spouse his partner, were delivered on this past Wednesday to the Ethiopian Studies Institute at the capital's university.

The assortment included crowns, armor and paintings, all considered as culturally significant in the nation.

"These items still stand as a mark of the long-standing and positive connection between the German nation and Ethiopia," said Ferdinand von Weyhe, Germany's envoy to the East African country.

Dr. Ramon Wyss, whose parent was delivered during the household's service in the nation, delivered the items at a gathering joined by the Minister of Tourism the tourism official.

He explained that the household's intention to give back the items was to "share their splendor with the public and safeguard the heritage and history linked to my parent's birth."

These artefacts were either considered presents or purchases, as stated by the family.

"We would like to express gratitude to the Weiss relatives for concretely showing their deep affection for Ethiopia by carefully maintaining these items and importantly ensuring their repatriation to their rightful nation," stated the minister of tourism.

She added that the artefacts would in the near future be made accessible to the public for investigation and scholarly work, describing the action a landmark in preserving the nation's historical legacy.

"Efforts are ongoing to return ancient items that are located in the hands of individuals and institutions throughout the planet," she stated.

During colonialism in the African continent, many of traditional items were looted.

This request by nations in Africa for the restoration of looted artefacts has been responded to by some positive outcomes in the past few years - even if several items are only on short-term display.

In two years ago, the German government was the first state to give back a selection of the well-known Benin artifacts to the Nigerian people as part of an effort to confront its "complex legacy."
