Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell like this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
